Ribfest suggestion very ‘constructive’

Cape Breton Post - - EDITORIAL -

Further to the recent letter to the editor (‘Ribfest should add shuttle service,’ Cape Breton Post, July 16), the organizers of Ribfest 2015 would like to thank Beth Matheson for her kind remarks and constructive suggestion.

This volunteer-driven event was organized by the Rotary clubs of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality in support of the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton. The many volunteers and community sponsors involved are genuinely humbled by the community’s overwhelming response to the event and by the generosity of Cape Bretoners.

As any community volunteer can attest, the logistics involved in mounting an event of this size and complexity were many. Despite our best efforts, we acknowledge that there is always room for improvement and we particularly want to assure the community that we will be paying particular attention to im- proving access and accommodation for people with disabilities in the future.

Here’s to a bigger, better and more accessible Ribfest in 2016.
