Race the Cape makes port of call in Ingonish
For the first time, Cape Breton’s premier sailing regatta has gone “down North.” After three legs of sailing in the relatively protected waters of Bras d’Or Lake, participants in Race the Cape 2015 departed North Sydney on Friday for Ingonish. After completing the leg known as the Aspy Cup Yacht Race, the crews overnighted in Ingonish prior to today’s final leg that will see the regatta finish at the Dobson Yacht Club in Westmount. The finale is called the Casino Nova Scotia Cibou Cup Yacht Race. More than three dozen sailing boats from a variety of classes are taking part in the race that has also attracted many other boats that make up what is being the “cruising class”.
