Race the Cape makes port of call in In­go­nish

For the first time, Cape Bre­ton’s premier sail­ing re­gatta has gone “down North.” Af­ter three legs of sail­ing in the rel­a­tively pro­tected wa­ters of Bras d’Or Lake, par­tic­i­pants in Race the Cape 2015 de­parted North Syd­ney on Fri­day for In­go­nish. Af­ter com­plet­ing the leg known as the Aspy Cup Yacht Race, the crews overnighted in In­go­nish prior to to­day’s fi­nal leg that will see the re­gatta fin­ish at the Dob­son Yacht Club in West­mount. The fi­nale is called the Casino Nova Sco­tia Ci­bou Cup Yacht Race. More than three dozen sail­ing boats from a va­ri­ety of classes are tak­ing part in the race that has also at­tracted many other boats that make up what is be­ing the “cruis­ing class”.
