Leitches Creek man charged in Toronto bank robberies
SYDNEY — A Leitches Creek man has been arrested on an outstanding warrant issued in Toronto where he is wanted in connection with four bank robberies. William Richard Turner, 47, was arrested earlier this week and is expected to be taken back to Toronto. He is charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of armed robbery in connection with incidents that occurred in October and November 2014. He is alleged to have used an imitation handgun in two of the holdups. Turner is also charged in Sydney with refusing a breatha- lyzer demand, driving while impaired, breaching a court order and possession of a weapon. The offences allegedly occurred March 22 in Sydney. Turner is scheduled to enter pleas to the charges Tuesday.
