Leitches Creek man charged in Toronto bank rob­beries

SYD­NEY — A Leitches Creek man has been ar­rested on an out­stand­ing war­rant is­sued in Toronto where he is wanted in con­nec­tion with four bank rob­beries. Wil­liam Richard Turner, 47, was ar­rested ear­lier this week and is ex­pected to be taken back to Toronto. He is charged with two counts of rob­bery and two counts of armed rob­bery in con­nec­tion with in­ci­dents that oc­curred in Oc­to­ber and Novem­ber 2014. He is al­leged to have used an im­i­ta­tion hand­gun in two of the holdups. Turner is also charged in Syd­ney with re­fus­ing a breatha- lyzer de­mand, driv­ing while im­paired, breach­ing a court or­der and pos­ses­sion of a weapon. The of­fences al­legedly oc­curred March 22 in Syd­ney. Turner is sched­uled to en­ter pleas to the charges Tues­day.
