We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father Clifford Taylor, age 93, of North Sydney, on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Northside General Hospital.
Clifford was born on June 28, 1922 in Grand Bruit on the Southwest coast of Newfoundland to the late John and Harriet (Billard) Taylor and being one of eight children, he was raised by his aunt and uncle Gordon and Melida Miles.
Dad left home at a young age to work on the water fishing and later working ocean going tug boats, that took him many places from Bermuda to the Azores. His travels brought him to North Sydney where he worked on the construction of St. Elizabeth Hospital and on its completion continued to work there as a stationary engineer until his retirement in 1987.
It was here in North Sydney where he met his late wife Margaret (Morris), and they raised a family of four, his sons Gordon (Nadine) Taylor, Sydney Mines and their children Alana and Kyle, David (Arlene) Taylor, Little Harbour, Pictou County and chil- dren Greg and Debralee; his daughters Darlene (Gordon) Carter, Georges River, Anne (Scott) Mosher, Fall River and their children Ashley and David and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Hazel d ma, brother Wilfred Taylor, both in Corner Brook, N.L., by several sisters and brothers-inlaw, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Taylor in 2007 and by his brothers Bill, Jack, Gilbert, Jim and sister Joan.
Visitation for Clifford will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. on Monday and funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
