A 15-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital in Halifax with lifethreatening injuries early Saturday, and four other young people suffered minor injuries when a car rolled near Broughton Road and Hornes Road, outside Sydney.

There were two men, ages 21 and 24, a woman, 21, and two girls, both 15, in the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer.

Cape Breton Regional Police haven’t released the names of any of the people involved in the crash. Police would only say they are from the Sydney and Point Aconi areas.

In a news release, police said the 21-year-old man was driving the car when it rolled over shortly before midnight.

The preliminary investigation has ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash.

The regional police’s traffic safety unit has seized the vehicle for inspection.

On Sunday, regional police Staff Sgt. Ken O’Neill said the 15year-old girl remains in serious condition in hospital and the crash is still under investigation.
