HALIFAX — Halifax firefighters rescued a man from the roof of a building on Lucknow Street in the city’s south end after the addition he was working on collapsed Monday afternoon. “The building actually had an addition being put on the side of it, and when it collapsed part of it fell onto the roof of the ex- isting structure,” said division commander Lloyd Currie. When the new structure collapsed around 4 p.m., it trapped a worker on the existing structure. “He was laying on one of the walls that had fallen over,” he said. “He was extricated from the roof by our rescue team and lowered to the ground using an aerial device and he’s in the care of paramedics.” Currie wasn’t sure of the nature or severity of the man’s injuries, but said he was “conscious and talking to paramedics” Monday evening, and was being taken to hospital.
