Trial to resume for Sydney Mines man
SYDNEY — A provincial court trial for a Sydney Mines facing a host of offences will continue in Aug. 12. Michael Francis Corbett, 39, of Main Street, is charged with robbery with violence relating to the theft of 24 morphine sulphate pills. He is also facing charges of aggravated assault, possession for the purpose of trafficking ( morphine pills), assault with a weapon ( a wooden club) and mischief by smashing a telephone. The charges stem from an Aug. 27, 2014, incident in Baddeck Forks during which a 57- yearold woman was hospitalized after police found her beaten and barely conscious. The woman and Corbett are known to each other. She has since been released from hospital.
