Far­rell cracks top three at provin­cials

Lin­gan Golf and Coun­try Club mem­ber Aubrey Far­rell is inch­ing up the leader­board at the Nova Sco­tia Golf As­so­ci­a­tion’s ju­nior, ban­tam and ju­ve­nile golf cham­pi­onships at Bell Bay Golf Club.

Far­rell carded a 2-over-par 74 on Tues­day to sit at 8 over for the ju­ve­nile boys di­vi­sion and in third place. Matthew Chan­dler of Ch­ester and Shaun Marge­son of Ashburn are tied for the lead at 3-un­der-par.

Ian Fraser of Seav­iew is in a tie for sev­enth place at 13 over par. He scored a 6-over-par 78 on Day 2.

Other Cape Bre­ton play­ers in the ju­ve­nile di­vi­sion in­clude: Car­son Guyaux, Lin­gan, 21 over par, 20th; Cale Guyaux, Lin­gan, 27 over par, tied for 29th; Graham Robin­son, Seav­iew, 57 over par, 48th; Lyn­don Mur­rin, Seav­iew, 67 over par, 49th; Kieran Ogrady, Seav­iew, 69 over par, 50th; Michael For­rest, Seav­iew, 91 over par, 51st; and Mark Camp­bell, Seav­iew, 102 over par, 52nd.

Mitchell Burke is in sixth place in the boys ju­nior di­vi­sion. He scored a 4-over-par 76 on Tues­day to put him at 12 over par for the tour­na­ment. The field is chas­ing An­drew Hard­ing of Ashburn, who leads at 3 over.

Also in the ju­nior di­vi­sion: Bren­dan Smith, Lin­gan, 21 over par, 14th; Tan­ner Guyaux, Lin­gan, 27 over par, tied for 20th; Sean Smith, Lin­gan, 30 over par, tied for 22nd; Tyler Syms, Lin­gan, 31 over par, tied for 24th; Aaron Shaw, Seav­iew, 62 over par, 31st; and Matthew Jessome, Seav­iew, 84 over par, 32nd.

Among the ban­tam boys, Colin Fraser of Seav­iew fin­ished tied for eighth spot with a tworound to­tal of 23 over par. He scored a 12-over-par 84 on Tues­day to com­plete the two-round com­pe­ti­tion. Ewan Jr. Kelly of Ashburn won the event at 3 over.

Ch­ester Golf Club’s Al­li­son Chan­dler con­tin­ues to lead the ju­nior girls di­vi­sion. She scored a 3-un­der-par 69 and sits at 4 over par. Meghan Ma­cLean of Ken Wo Golf Club is the top ju­ve­nile girl af­ter carding a 9-over 81 for a 14 over par to­tal. In the ban­tam girls cat­e­gory, Heather McLean of Ken Wo leads at 23 over par af­ter scor­ing a 13-over­par 85 on Tues­day.

Play con­cludes at the four-day event on Thurs­day.
