CAMPBELL, Thomas Albert
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our father, Thomas Albert Campbell, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. He passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney on Dec. 11, 1924, Tom was the son of the late Lillian Edith (Grantmyre) and Daniel Campbell.
Tom is survived by his four children, Thomas William ( Diane) Campbell, Lana ( Robert) Mahoney, Linda (Donald) Arsenault and Sheldon (Leona) Campbell. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tommy, Laurie- Anne, Diane, Amanda, Jonathan, Anne, Mathew, David and Caitlyn, as well as 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Predeceasing Tom were his wife, Eleanor Geraldine (Carson) and his brother, Harry Campbell.
Tom worked as an auto mechanic and body mechanic for most of his life. He loved a challenge and took great pride and pleasure in restoring vehicles to their former condition. His love of learning new things continued throughout his life.
Dad believed that no matter how much you had, if you didn’t have the love of your family you had nothing at all. Dad died a wealthy man.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015, and Friday, July 24, 2015, from 2- 4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Christ the King Parish, Sydney, with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating.
Interment to follow in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
