In­go­nish Beach

It is with deep sad­ness that we an­nounce the pass­ing of our fa­ther, Wal­lace, age 83, on July 18, 2015, at home.

Born in In­go­nish Beach to John and Mar­cella Whitty, Wal­lace was a lov­ing fa­ther and ‘Grampy’ who will be deeply missed. He was a hard-work­ing fish­er­man known for his great sense of hu­mour and heart of gold. He was beloved in the com­mu­nity for his de­tailed and an­i­mated sto­ry­telling and hon­est de­meanour. In his younger years Wal­lace was an avid sports­man who en­joyed hunt­ing and play­ing hockey. His daily vis­its were cher­ished by his fam­ily and friends and he leaves be­hind a great void.

Wal­lace was pre­de­ceased by his lov­ing wife of 42 years, Joan Marie and a son, Don­nie.

He is sur­vived by his chil­dren, Deb­bie ( James), Ch­ester (Su­san), Free­man (Rox­anne), Doreen (Mike), Danita (Robert), Andy; 21 grand­chil­dren and 24 great­grand­chil­dren.

Wal­lace was also pre­de­ceased by broth­ers, Hec­tor, Harry, Rus­sell, sis­ters, Florence and Kaye, and grand­sons, Ryan and Paul.

He is sur­vived by sib­lings, Will Tom, Earl, Timmy, Bobby and Greta. Wal­lace is also sur­vived by his dear friend Shirley Smith.

Vis­i­ta­tion for Wal­lace will be held at Fill­more & Whit­man Fu­neral Home, In­go­nish on Thurs­day from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Fri­day 1-3 p.m. Mass of Chris­tian Burial to be held on Fri­day at 4 p.m. at St. Peters Church, In­go­nish, with re­cep­tion to fol­low.
