Po­lice lo­cate miss­ing van and ar­rest two males

A 15-year-old Syd­ney boy was re­leased from cus­tody Wed­nes­day af­ter be­ing charged with steal­ing a car.

The youth is now charged with theft over $5,000 and two counts of breach­ing court or- ders. He is sched­uled to en­ter pleas to the charges Aug. 26. He was re­leased on a host of con­di­tions.

A sec­ond ac­cused, an 18-yearold New Water­ford man, has been charged with tak­ing a ve­hi­cle with­out con­sent and breach­ing court or­ders. He is sched­uled to ap­pear in pro­vin­cial court Sept. 28. His name was not re­leased as the in­for­ma­tion is not yet filed with the court.

The pair is charged in con­nec­tion with a re­port of a theft of a cube van Tues­day night in Syd­ney.

Ac­cord­ing to Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Po­lice, the van was spot­ted in Eska­soni and with as­sis­tance from Eska­soni RCMP, two sus­pects were iden­ti­fied.

Both were lo­cated in the First Na­tion com­mu­nity and ar­rested with­out in­ci­dent. The ve­hi­cle was re­cov­ered.
