Songwriters circle to bring CCMA excitement
Canadian country music will be on full display in Halifax in September when the Canadian Country Music Awards takes over a number of stages and venues in and around the provincial capital.
To ensure all Nova Scotians get a taste of what’s in store for their province, organizers are taking a series of country music shows on the road.
The Songwriter Series: The Road to Halifax has already made stops in Yarmouth and Truro and will conclude in Membertou on Tuesday when musicians Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Bruce Guthro take the stage.
“It was just our opportunity to bring a little bit of country music week to those other communities around the province, encourage people to come to Halifax for this very unique event,” said Stacey Jones-Oxner, a Cape Breton native and chair of Canadian Country Music Week 2015.
Tuesday’s performance will also feature rising stars Jordan Musycsyn from Cape Breton and the Ryan Sisters from Halifax.
Jones-Oxner said the songwriters circle joins the Atlantic Discovery Program as methods to give emerging artists in these parts a chance to gain exposure during the weeks and months leading up to CCMA week in Halifax.
Tickets for Tuesday’s show are $38, including all taxes and fees, and are now on sale online at www.membertoutcc.com and at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre box office.
They can also be purchased at the door the night of the show.
