Trial set for rob­bery ac­cused

SYD­NEY - A sec­ond ac­cused from a June rob­bery in Alder Point has en­tered a not guilty plea. Latef Reak­won Tag-El-Din, 19, of the Hal­i­fax area is charged with armed rob­bery (a hand­gun) in con­nec­tion with a June 4 in­ci­dent in which a Syd­ney Mines man claimed he was robbed of cash, jew­elry and an iPhone by three peo­ple he was trav­el­ling with in a ve­hi­cle No in­juries were re­ported. Tag-El-Din is now sched­uled to stand trial in pro­vin­cial court Nov. 16. He con­tin­ues to be on re­mand at a cor­rec­tional cen­tre in Dart­mouth. Another ac­cused, Kevin Thomas For­rest, 20, of Rateau Street, Syd­ney Mines, is also charged with armed rob­bery (a hand­gun) and en­tered a plea of not guilty. He is sched­uled to stand trial Oct. 29 and con­tin­ues to be on re­mand at the Cape Bre­ton Cor­rec­tional Cen­tre.
