Trial set for robbery accused
SYDNEY - A second accused from a June robbery in Alder Point has entered a not guilty plea. Latef Reakwon Tag-El-Din, 19, of the Halifax area is charged with armed robbery (a handgun) in connection with a June 4 incident in which a Sydney Mines man claimed he was robbed of cash, jewelry and an iPhone by three people he was travelling with in a vehicle No injuries were reported. Tag-El-Din is now scheduled to stand trial in provincial court Nov. 16. He continues to be on remand at a correctional centre in Dartmouth. Another accused, Kevin Thomas Forrest, 20, of Rateau Street, Sydney Mines, is also charged with armed robbery (a handgun) and entered a plea of not guilty. He is scheduled to stand trial Oct. 29 and continues to be on remand at the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.
