We, the family of Charles Pye, 92, regret to announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney .
Born in Sydney Mines on March 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Herbert and Hannah (Antle) Pye.
On December 1947 he married the love of his life the former Dorothy McDougall.
Our father was a strong, proud but humble man. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humour. He was a great outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Our Mother packed many lunches for trips in to the Bells Lakes and the stories that came back from these overnight adventures brought many a smile to the faces of those fortunate enough to hear them. You always knew it would be a good one when it started with that special smile and a twinkle in his eye. Dad was first and foremost a family man who loved and cared for his family. We know we are blessed to have had him as a father.
Charles was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines. He was employed with the Cape Breton Development Corporation until his retirement.
Charles is survived by daughters Charlene (Noel) Lannon, Truro, Valerie (Frank) Kozera,Ottawa, Corinne Griffin, Lower Sackville, and Angela (Greg) Knott, Dalem Lake, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters Annie Snow and Alleine Dove, Sydney Mines and Jean (Ian) Gillan, Ontario and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (MacDougall), sons Wesley and Eric, grandson Charlie, sister Sarah Belle, and brothers John, Fred, Leonard, Elijah, Ananias and Clarence.
The family would like to thank the Cove Guest Home for the wonderful care that they provided to their father.

Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines with Rev.
