Jacket worn by drum­mer Ringo Starr in 1965 movie ‘Help!’ sells for $46K

BOS­TON - The black wool dou­ble­breasted suit jacket that Ringo Starr wore in the 1965 Bea­tles movie “Help!” has sold at auc­tion for more than $46,500. Bos­ton-based RR Auc­tion an­nounced Fri­day that the jacket with soft grey ver­ti­cal pin­stripes, six black but­tons, and the name “Ringo” sewn in­side was part of the online Mar­vels of Mod­ern Mu­sic auc­tion that closed Thurs­day. RR said the buyer is “a top rock ‘n’ roll col­lec­tor in Rhode Is­land,” but did not dis­close a name. Other items sold in the auc­tion in­cluded a Hamer guitar cus­tom­made in Con­necti­cut for Johnny Ra­mone for al­most $50,000; a signed Jimi Hen­drix Ex­pe­ri­ence al­bum cover for al­most $31,000; a signed Ja­nis Jo­plin pho­to­graph for al­most $ 19,000; and a con­tract signed by Jim Mor­ri­son to ap­pear on Amer­i­can Bandstand for nearly $12,000.
