An­nual Clan MacNeil Day on Fri­day

CHRIST­MAS IS­LAND — The 32th an­nual Clan MacNeil Day will be held in Christ­mas Is­land on Fri­day. The day be­gins at 2 p.m. with a tea and so­cial at the Christ­mas Is­land fire hall. This will be fol­lowed by a con­cert from 2:30-4 p.m. in the hall. Be­gin­ning at 5 p.m., there will be a mass at the Cairn at Cooper’s Pond. In the event of in­clement weather the mass will be held in St. Barra’s Church. There will be a hot buf­fett supper at the fire hall be­gin­ning at 6 p.m., at a cost of $14 for adults and $8 for chil­dren un­der 12. This will be fol­lowed by a square dance for those 19 and over fea­tur­ing Howie Mac­Don­ald & guest from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Flag day set for Aug. 3

NORTH SYD­NEY — North Syd­ney vet­er­ans will celebrate flag day on Aug. 3 with a flag-rais­ing and march from the Bal­last Grounds to the ceno­taph, start­ing at 2 p.m. A re­cep­tion with re­fresh­ments will fol­low at the le­gion.
