Glace Bay man scheduled to enter pleas
SYDNEY — A Glace Bay man charged with threatening and intimidating a witnesses is scheduled to return to provincial court Aug. 5 to enter pleas. Morgan James MacNeil, 24, is charged with uttering a threat, intimidation and breaching a court order in connection with a June 2 incident in Sydney. MacNeil is alleged to have made contact with the witness who testified at his preliminary hear- ing on a charge of second-degree murder. MacNeil and Thomas Ted Barrett will stand trial next year in connection with the 2012 murder of 21-year-old Laura Catherine Jessome of Bras d’Or. MacNeil made a brief court appearance Monday and requested more time to secure the services of a lawyer. MacNeil is on remand for the murder charge and is serving a federal sentence on robbery offences.
