SYDNEY — A Sydney man charged in connection with a police chase that ended with the suspect vehicle crashing into a home will be back in court Aug. 17 to enter pleas. Darren James Clarke, 34, of Cottage Road was charged last week in connection with leading police on a chase in Sydney on Wednesday that resulted in extensive damage to a home and vehicles. Clarke is charged with five counts of mischief involving property damage, of which three counts allege damages over $5,000 each, as well as single counts of evading police, assaulting a police officer, impaired driving, dangerous driving and breaching a court order. Clarke continues to be on remand. At the time of the offences, Clarke was on probation, having completed a sentence in connection with an attack in 2013 on a homeless man in North Sydney. He was sentenced for being an accessory after the fact.
