Cubs on the win­ning track at na­tion­als

The Cape Bre­ton Cubs con­tinue to surge at the 2015 Cana­dian Se­nior Lit­tle League Cham­pi­onship in Co­quit­lam, N.B. Cape Bre­ton downed the Mon­treal Rock­ies in their early game 14-4 in five in­nings on Mon­day. Michael MacGil­li­vary hit a dou­ble and a sin­gle in the win, while Trent Rear­don, Liam Mac­Don­ald and Cameron Walker swat­ted two sin­gles apiece. Rear­don went the dis­tance for the win on the mound. Cape Bre­ton im­proved to 3-2 for fourth place and has won three straight. The Cubs were set to face Leth­bridge in their late game on Mon­day. Fol­low­ing one re­main­ing round-robin game to­day, the top four teams ad­vance to semi­fi­nal round. The con­so­la­tion and cham­pi­onship games are slated for Wed­nes­day. The win­ning team will rep­re­sent Canada at the Se­nior Lit­tle League World Se­ries in Ban­gor, Maine.
