Tunes at Noon launches today in Sydney
There will be music in Sydney’s downtown each Wednesday afternoon over the next several weeks.
The Sydney Downtown Development Association and the Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative have announced the launch of Tunes at Noon, which will kick off today and continue each Wednesday until early October. As part of Tunes at Noon downtown merchants will sponsor a local musician to provide entertainment in front of their establishment from noon until 2 p.m. Musicians will also accept donations.
The idea behind it all is to promote local musicians and give people more to enjoy in downtown Sydney.
“Tunes at Noon is one of several initiatives that the Sydney Downtown Development Association and merchants are undertaking to help revitalize downtown Sydney,” said association president Janelle Osborne, noting that a study by Pure Project Relations in 2014 found that locals want more music in the downtown. “It creates a festive atmosphere that benefits both the merchants and people who come downtown to shop, eat and do business.”
Tunes at Noon is set to run until early October and the dates have been chosen to coincide with the cruise ship schedule.
