MACLEAN, James Alexander
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of James Alexander MacLean on July 28, 2015, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Christmas Island, he was a son of the late Hector and Betty (Stark) MacLean and is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was known for his ability to use his hands; whether it is woodcarving or restoring most anything. He made a career as mechanic, both mechanical and auto body. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing. His witty sense of humour always lit up a room. He will be missed by his many friends at the club.
James is survived by sons, Wayne (Darlene), Kevin; daughters, Ann (Gary), Mary, Marie (Craig), Bernadette (Leigh) Derry, Catherine (Charlie); also surviving are 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a child, Sheila in infancy; first wife, Sarah; second wife, Florence; brothers, Wallace and Archie.
Visitation will take place 12 p.m.-2 p.m. Thursday in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A reception will be held following the service at the French Club (corner of Ferry and Dolbin streets, Sydney).
Memorial donations to the palliative-care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
