Log­ger found dead near Lit­tle Narrows

Cause of death not con­sid­ered sus­pi­cious

A forestry worker has been found dead in the woods near Lit­tle Narrows.

At about 9:30 p.m. on Tues­day, Baddeck RCMP re­sponded to a call about a man who had not re­turned from his work as a skid­der op­er­a­tor in the Lit­tle Narrows area.

A search en­sured in­volv­ing ground search-and-res­cue per­son­nel, the RCMP’s po­lice dog ser­vice, mem­bers of the Iona Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment and work­ers from a nearby min­ing op­er­a­tion.

Af­ter sev­eral hours of search­ing, the body of the 54-year-old man was found just past mid­night near the log­ging equip­ment.

Ac­cord­ing to RCMP, the cause of death does not ap­pear to be sus­pi­cious, although the in­ves­ti­ga­tion con­tin­ues.

The Nova Sco­tia med­i­cal ex­am­iner’s of­fice and the Nova Sco­tia Depart­ment of Labour have also been no­ti­fied.
