Fireworks to end event
Plenty to see, do during Johnny Miles Festival
The 13th annual Johnny Miles Festival in Sydney Mines continues through to Sunday.
The Fun Van will be at the Pitt Street ball field today from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by Kidsfest from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sydney Mines and District Community Centre, Legatto Street.
There is plenty to choose from on Friday with the kids track and field at the Pitt Street ball field. Registration is 9:30 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Jail N’ Bail takes place with proceeds to go to the Johnstone Crescent Community Centre and the Sydney Mines Community Volunteer Policing Office. The family picnic and barbecue is 2 to 4 p.m., followed by music at Indian Beach with Bob MacDonald and The Circle from 6 to 9 p.m.
Registration for the Johnny Miles Memorial 5k road race is Saturday, 9 a.m. at the John J. Nugent Firemen’s Centre, Elliott Street. Race start is 10 a.m.
The annual seniors luncheon will be held at the Sydney Mines Seniors and Pensioners, Fraser Avenue. with entertainment by Dinky Cameron, Maria King and Elmer Syms.
The concert in the park and 3D Fireworks will close off the festival beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday featuring music by Roy Bennett and Pretty Archie.
