Plenty to see, do dur­ing Johnny Miles Fes­ti­val

The 13th an­nual Johnny Miles Fes­ti­val in Syd­ney Mines con­tin­ues through to Sun­day.

The Fun Van will be at the Pitt Street ball field to­day from 10 a.m. to noon, fol­lowed by Kid­sfest from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Syd­ney Mines and Dis­trict Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, Le­gatto Street.

There is plenty to choose from on Fri­day with the kids track and field at the Pitt Street ball field. Reg­is­tra­tion is 9:30 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Jail N’ Bail takes place with pro­ceeds to go to the John­stone Cres­cent Com­mu­nity Cen­tre and the Syd­ney Mines Com­mu­nity Vol­un­teer Polic­ing Of­fice. The fam­ily pic­nic and bar­be­cue is 2 to 4 p.m., fol­lowed by mu­sic at In­dian Beach with Bob Mac­Don­ald and The Cir­cle from 6 to 9 p.m.

Reg­is­tra­tion for the Johnny Miles Me­mo­rial 5k road race is Satur­day, 9 a.m. at the John J. Nu­gent Fire­men’s Cen­tre, El­liott Street. Race start is 10 a.m.

The an­nual se­niors lun­cheon will be held at the Syd­ney Mines Se­niors and Pen­sion­ers, Fraser Av­enue. with en­ter­tain­ment by Dinky Cameron, Maria King and Elmer Syms.

The con­cert in the park and 3D Fire­works will close off the fes­ti­val be­gin­ning at 7 p.m. Sun­day fea­tur­ing mu­sic by Roy Ben­nett and Pretty Archie.
