No more free parking at Halifax library
HALIFAX — The days of free parking behind the Halifax Central Library have come to an end. As of today, the municipality said there will no longer be public parking allowed in the open-air lot on Queen Street behind the library. According to a release, the city sold the property to Dalhousie University. Parking in the lot was originally offered for free last December to ease the parking pressures that came with the opening of the new central library and holiday shopping, the release said. Free parking was then extended until the property was sold, the city said. The release said Dalhousie University will install signs at the lot on Thursday, stating the school is the property owner and people will need a valid Dalhousie parking permit to use it.
