Diversabil­ity expo planned for late Au­gust

SYD­NEY — A Diversabil­ity Expo is be­ing planned for Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Re­serve Mines Pen­sion­ers Hall on Main Street. There will be booths set up at the event fea­tur­ing groups and or­ga­ni­za­tions who serve peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties. Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from those or­ga­ni­za­tions will be there to an­swer ques­tions, give in­for­ma­tion and hand out brochures and ap­pli­ca­tions. Or­ga­niz­ers say the expo is a great op­por­tu­nity for pre­sen­ters to net­work and for par­ents and care­givers to gain aware­ness of what is avail­able to them and their fam­i­lies. There will be door prizes and the event is free. A num­ber of or­ga­ni­za­tions have al­ready reg­is­tered to take part in the expo in­clud­ing the Nova Sco­tia As­so­ci­a­tion for Com­mu­nity Liv­ing, Peo­ple First Nova Sco­tia, Spe­cial Olympics, Cape Bre­ton Autism So­ci­ety, Care­givers Nova Sco­tia, The Joy Cen­tre and more.
