Diversability expo planned for late August
SYDNEY — A Diversability Expo is being planned for Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Reserve Mines Pensioners Hall on Main Street. There will be booths set up at the event featuring groups and organizations who serve people with disabilities. Representatives from those organizations will be there to answer questions, give information and hand out brochures and applications. Organizers say the expo is a great opportunity for presenters to network and for parents and caregivers to gain awareness of what is available to them and their families. There will be door prizes and the event is free. A number of organizations have already registered to take part in the expo including the Nova Scotia Association for Community Living, People First Nova Scotia, Special Olympics, Cape Breton Autism Society, Caregivers Nova Scotia, The Joy Centre and more. Groups and organizations who would like to book a table or get more information can contact Jocelyn Ogden at 902-842-0582.
