Exhibition Park closing due to damage
HALIFAX — The Nova Scotia government is closing a 30year-old exhibition facility, saying harsh winter weather severely damaged the building. The province says it will stop operating Exhibition Park in Halifax as of Nov. 16. It estimates it would cost $3 million to repair the aging structure’s roof and electrical system, and ensure its integrity before next snowfall. It says another $6 million would be needed for upgrades. The province says it will instead look at transferring the site. The closure means the Maritime Fall Fair will be cancelled this year, and the deed will be transferred to the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.
