GLACE BAY — The driver of a Cape Breton Regional Municipality salt truck escaped without injury after the vehicle caught fire Sunday morning. John Chant, chief of the Glace Bay Fire Department, said the fire was called in from Dinn Avenue around 10:45 a.m. “We got the call and upon arrival most of the front of the truck was completely engulfed,” he said. Chant said the driver had the vehicle stopped and was adjusting some equipment when someone nearby noticed the fire and alerted the driver. “The driver got out. He was a little bit shaken up but he seems OK now,” said Chant. The exact cause of the fire is not known but it’s been deemed accidental.
