HEWER, Gladys

Gladys (Penticost) Hewer, of Sydney, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Saturday, September 24, at the age of 84. Daughter of the late Daniel and Ella Mae (Murphy) Penticost. Beloved wife of the late William Joseph Hewer, (known to the family members as Herbie). Loving mother to sons; Douglas of British Columbia and Robert and wife Ellen of Quincy, Massachusetts. Cherished grandmother of Emily Hewer of British Columbia, Kiley and Nick Hewer of Quincy, Massachusetts, Meagan Demesovic of Tucson, Arizona and Kirstie Hewer of Stevenson, Washington. Devoted sister of Eileen Kerr, Sylvia Tower and Kenny Miller of Sydney; Sandra McLean, Valerie Donovan, Donna Spurvey, Debbie Peters, Brian Penticost and Marlene Harrietha of Westmount; Helen Penticost of Prince Edward Island; Delphine Barossi and Donna Kearney of Walpole, Massachusetts, Daniel Penticost of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts and their respective families. Gladys enjoyed spending countless hours cooking and entertaining for her family and close friends. She was a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to her large extended family. She will be missed by all.
