Heating assistance program in place
SYDNEY — The province will contribute $800,000 to the Good Neighbour Energy Fund that provides emergency home heating help during the winter.
The Salvation Army is also a program partner, along with Nova Scotia Power which will provide a further $150,000 to the program that helped 1,604 people heat their homes last year.
To receive support, an applicant must not have received assistance from the program for two years and must fall below certain income levels.

The program runs until April 30.
