Syd­ney Mines man ac­cused of theft re­manded

SYD­NEY — A 28-year-old Syd­ney Mines man is to re­turn to provin­cial court at the end of the month on charges in­clud­ing the theft of a $4,000 ring from a Syd­ney jewelry store in De­cem­ber.

Ed­ward Joseph Thomas Whitty-LeBlanc is charged with theft and six breaches in con­nec­tion with the Dec. 27 theft from a down­town Syd­ney jewelry store.

He is also fac­ing un­re­lated of­fences that in­clude crim­i­nal ha­rass­ment, theft and four counts of breach­ing court or­ders.

Po­lice were able to re­cover the stolen ring.

Whitty-LeBLanc, who is on re­mand, is now to re­turn to court Feb. 28 to en­ter pleas.
