On January 31, 2017 we lost a very special lady when Joan (MacInnis) MacNeil passed peacefully at Harbourstone, (Spanish Bay) in Sydney.

Born October 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Elizabeth (MacNeil) MacInnis.

Joan graduated from Holy Angels and completed a commercial program at Mount Saint Bernard. She worked at several businesses in Sydney and Toronto. Eventually, Joan attended St. Francis Xavier and spent the remainder of her working career teaching business at Sydney Academy.

In 1982 Joan married Steve MacNeil; he brought Joan into a kind and caring family who loved her dearly. Joan and Steve spent many wonderful years together and loved visiting Florida for a winter break. Joan was a positive, cheerful person who enjoyed the simple things in life such as playing music, dancing, skating, playing bridge, sewing and baking treats for family. Joan had a great love of animals and owned several furry pets over her lifetime. She was an active member of Sacred Heart parish and a member of the CWL.

Joan will also be missed by her nieces, Jane, Elizabeth, Patricia, Mary Ellen, Francis, Sheila, Patricia, Joan, Jackie and nephews, Michael, Bernard, John and David. She is also survived by and will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law, Dorothy MacInnis.
