Nova Scotians will have the opportunity to present by video conference to the Law Amendments Committee on Bill 59, an act respecting accessibility in the province, on Feb. 14.

The conference will be set up at 11 different Nova Scotia Community College locations, including Sydney and Port Hawkesbury, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Sydney session will be held at Marconi Campus in room C306, while the Port Hawkesbury conference will be at the Strait Area Campus in room 228.

Marcie Shwery-Stanley, a longtime advocate for those with disabilities, said it’s important to have these sessions.

“I think with the technology we have, and the communications we have, these sessions are doable,” she said. “I think that it’s important that the issues from outside of HRM (Halifax Regional Municipality) are heard, if not, they will never be acted upon.”

Those interested in getting on the list of presenters for the video conference must register by Feb. 9.

To register, contact Sandra McFadyen by email at Sandra. mcfadyen@novascotia.ca, or by phone at 902-424-0796, or toll-free at 1-800-565-8280. Registration is also available by text Telephone (TTY) at 902-424-2667 or toll-free at 1-877-996-9954.
