Cape Breton Post - - IN MEMORIAM -

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear father and brother, Tommy Kauffman. Words cannot express the loss we feel. Dad passed away peacefully at the age of 82, on January 31, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Jane ‘Jenny’ (Murray) Kauffman.

Dad started working at the Sydney Steel Plant in 1952, he worked in the heavy mills until his retirement in 1998. Dad enjoyed many sports; hockey, ball, golf and had played for the Sydney Millionaires Hockey Team. He wanted to thank Dale and Danny for all the fish dinners and all other friends and neighbours that helped Tommy over the years.

Dad is survived by his two sons, Tommy (Candace) and Blair, both of Toronto and their mother, Josie MacKinnon Kauffman; step children, Tracy, Donna, Ken and David; sisters, Nancy (Gary) Maxwell, Judy Kane, Connie Ross; brothers, David (Rosie) and Michael (Heather). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister, Gearldeen.

The family would like to thank Drs. MacDougall and MacLeod and staff of 4D and Mary Louise in Palliative Care at the C.B. Regional Hospital for the care given to their Dad.

Respecting Dad’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
