Ten-year-old Will Rud­der­ham of Point Ed­ward gets some high-fives from mem­bers of the crowd as 6-11 Cape Bre­ton High­landers bas­ket­ball player Mike Luby looks on dur­ing the sold-out Dress Up for Down Syn­drome event that was held Sun­day at the Joan Har­riss Cruise Pav­il­ion in Syd­ney. The mis­matched pair was tak­ing part in the fash­ion show por­tion of the fundraiser that also fea­tured ap­pear­ances from Luby’s High­landers team­mates, the Tar City Rollers Roller Derby Girls and the Weird-Beard Troupe, as well as a silent auc­tion. Down syn­drome is a con­di­tion when a baby is born with an ex­tra chro­mo­some that can af­fect both men­tal and phys­i­cal de­vel­op­ment.
