Don­ald A. Mac­Don­ald, 85, of Broad Brook, passed away peace­fully at his home on Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 7, 2017.

He was born Au­gust 11, 1931 in Glace Bay, Nova Sco­tia to the late Wil­liam and Eve­lyn (Davis) Mac­Don­ald.

He re­tired from Amer­i­can Air­lines. Don was a very hard­work­ing hus­band and fa­ther al­ways putting his fam­ily first. He en­joyed go­ing to the movies and at­tended them weekly some­times joined by his grand­son. He was pas­sion­ate about any and all kinds of Ice Hockey and the Bos­ton Red Sox. Cher­ished his trav­els with fam­ily to his home­land of Glace Bay, Nova Sco­tia or vis­it­ing rel­a­tives in Florida. He was a past com­mu­nity mem­ber of the Knights of Columbus and the Broad Brook Fire De­part­ment, he also loved lis­ten­ing to all types of mu­sic.

He is sur­vived by his son, Darryl and wife, Cheryl and their daugh­ter, Kim­berly; his daugh­ters, Colleen and her hus­band, Michael and their chil­dren, Ash­ley and Michael, Lori and her hus­band, Jeff and their sons, Jef­frey and Justin and Jen­nifer and her hus­band, Chris and their daugh­ter, Lindsey; and many nieces and neph­ews. Don was pre­de­ceased by his wife, Win­nie in 2011.

The Fam­ily would like to thank Lesa Wal­ter and his sonin-law, Chris for their tire­less love and devo­tion to his daily care to­wards the end of his life.

Rel­a­tives and friends may join the fam­ily from 11–12 p.m. on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 13, 2017 at Bassinger & Dowd Fu­neral Home, 37 Gard­ner St., East Wind­sor.

A Fu­neral Home Ser­vice will take place at 12 p.m. Burial will fol­low at St. Cather­ine Ceme­tery, Broad Brook.
