It is with great sad­ness that the fam­ily of Lois Evan­ge­line Mathe­son (86) an­nounce her pass­ing. Lois de­parted peace­fully on Fe­bru­ary 9, 2017, sur­rounded by the im­mense love of her fam­ily. Born in South Bar, Cape Bre­ton, she was the daugh­ter of the late Sarah and Don­ald Mor­ri­son. She was a lov­ing wife of the late Don­ald Mathe­son and an amaz­ing mother to Diane Gwynn (Lester), Donna LeBlanc (Ger­ald), Bobby Mathe­son and Doug Mathe­son (Les­lie). Lois was a fun-lov­ing and de­voted grand­mother and great-grand­mother to Mark Gwynn (Lind­say) and Allison Shea (James and Abi­gail). She was a lov­ing sis­ter to Es­ther Jes­some (late Sam) and is pre­de­ceased by broth­ers, Ge­orge Mor­ri­son (He­len) and Ger­ald Mor­ri­son. Lois is also sur­vived by many nieces and neph­ews.

Lois will be re­mem­bered for her won­der­fully up­lift­ing spirit and her un­wa­ver­ing pos­i­tive at­ti­tude and out­look. She en­joyed play­ing bridge, go­ing to movies, pot luck dinners with friends and spend­ing time with fam­ily. Lois was a mem­ber of the United Bap­tist Church, a de­voted vol­un­teer at Ki­wa­nis Chil­dren Car­diac Clinic (26 years) and a former mem­ber of the Louis­burg Chap­ter IODE (28 years).

Her fam­ily sends a heart­felt thank you to her de­voted friends. Fam­ily are grate­ful for the care she re­ceived from her doc­tors, the pal­lia­tive care team (VG-7A) and the very kind staff at Melville Gar­dens.

Cre­ma­tion will take place un­der the di­rec­tion of T.J. Tracey Cre­ma­tion and Burial Spe­cial­ists, Bed­ford (902) 8354212.

A fam­ily in­ter­ment at Hard­wood Hill Ceme­tery will be held in the sum­mer of 2017, date to be an­nounced.

In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions in her mem­ory can be made to the Cana­dian Can­cer So­ci­ety and the SPCA.
