Glace Bay man to go to trial on sex of­fences

SYD­NEY — Five sex of­fences against a 69-year-old Glace Bay man have been dis­missed but the ac­cused is now to pro­ceed to trial on 13 other sex of­fences. Ken­neth Fran­cis MacKil­lop was sched­uled to stand trial in Supreme Court last week on charges that in­cluded sex­ual as­sault, sex­ual in­ter­fer­ence and sex­ual ex­ploita­tion. Those charges were dis­missed. How­ever, MacKil­lop is now sched­uled to stand trial in Supreme Court Feb. 21 on 13 sex of­fences that in­clude seven counts of in­de­cent as­sault, two counts of sex­ual in­ter­course with a fe­male who was not his wife, two counts of sex­ual in­ter­course with a per­son un­der the age of 14 and a sin­gle count of bug­gery. The of­fences are al­leged to have oc­curred be­tween 1993 and 2003 and MacKil­lop is charged un­der the sec­tions con­tained in the Crim­i­nal Code at the time of the of­fences.’
