New trial date assigned
SYDNEY — The Supreme Court trial for a Manitoba man charged with sex offences has been adjourned until August.
The trial for Gilbert Melvin Boyer, 53, of Brandon, was scheduled to begin on Monday but will now begin Aug. 9. The trial is scheduled for three days.
Boyer is charged two counts of sexual interference involving a person under 16 and single counts of sexual assault and invitation to sexual touching.
The offences are alleged to have occurred in Glace Bay between 2006 and 2008.
The case is also scheduled to return to court April 3 for an application hearing into whether a witness will be able to testify during the trial by video.
