SYD­NEY — A Syd­ney Mines man was is­sued fine and pro­ba­tion after plead­ing guilty to sev­eral of­fences in­clud­ing theft.

John Charles Ford, 41, of Church Street pleaded guilty to four counts of theft, two counts of breach­ing court or­ders and a sin­gle count of pos­ses­sion of co­caine. The of­fences oc­curred be­tween Fe­bru­ary and June 2016 in Syd­ney River, North Syd­ney and Mem­ber­tou.

Three of thefts in­volved re­tail out­lets while one count in­volved per­sonal prop­erty.

He was fined $500 on the drug of­fence and given a 18-month pro- ba­tion on the re­main­ing of­fences. He was also or­dered to pay $667 in resti­tu­tion to Cana­dian Tire. Ford con­tin­ues to be on re­mand on other un­re­lated of­fences, in­clud­ing as­sault with a weapon, and is now sched­uled to stand trial March 13.
