Po­lice nab man sus­pected of rob­bing gas sta­tion

SYD­NEY — A 20-year-old man is fac­ing a num­ber of charges in con­nec­tion with an armed rob­bery at a Syd­ney gas sta­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to the Cape Breton Re­gional Po­lice Ser­vice, Tre Damian Tim­mons has been charged with rob­bery, wear­ing a dis­guise with in­tent, dan­ger­ous use of a weapon, ut­ter­ing threats, and as­sault with a weapon.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened at about 6:45 a.m. on Satur­day when an armed man al­legedly en­tered the Sobeys/Needs gas and con­ve­nience store at the cor­ner of Prince and Inglis streets.

Po­lice say there were no in­juries dur­ing the rob­bery al­though a large knife and cash regis­ter were dis­cov­ered a short dis­tance from the store by a po­lice K-9 unit.

Tim­mons has been re­manded to the Cape Breton Correction Cen­tre and was sched­uled to ap­pear in Syd­ney pro­vin­cial court to­day.
