McKen­zie joins Women Mak­ing Waves 2017

New Water­ford’s Ash­ley McKen­zie will be one of the guest speak­ers at this year’s Women Mak­ing Waves 2017 event March 5 in Hal­i­fax.

Fresh from pre­sent­ing her award- win­ning film “Were­wolf’ in Ber­lin, writer-di­rec­tor McKen­zie is the guest for the event’s clos­ing con­ver­sa­tion when CBC’s An­gela An­tle will in­ter­view McKen­zie about the re­cent suc­cess of her de­but fea­ture, pur­su­ing a film­mak­ing ca­reer from Cape Breton, the dif­fer­ent pres­sures she is fac­ing as her films gain more at­ten­tion, bal­anc­ing the roles of writer and di­rec­tor, and what drives her as an artist.

The Women Mak­ing Waves con­fer­ence is pre­sented by Women in Film and Tele­vi­sion — At­lantic, a not-for-profit or­ga­ni­za­tion that has been in op­er­a­tion since 2009 and has grown steadily, al­ready at­tract­ing close to150 mem­bers in the At­lantic re­gion. Its vi­sion is to ad­vance, pro­mote, con­nect and in­spire all women work­ing in screen-based in­dus­try in At­lantic Canada.
