MCPHAIL, Zelda Anne (Reid)

Zelda Anne (Reid) McPhail, 90, of West­mount, passed away peace­fully at home on Fe­bru­ary 18, 2017.

She was the daugh­ter of the late Ge­orge and Mary (Boudreau) Reid.

In her younger years, Zelda was a seam­stress for McCurdy’s and Ja­cob­son’s Ladies Wear. Zelda also served in the Re­serve Army for 13 years. She was the last sur­viv­ing Char­ter mem­ber of the Ladies Aux­il­iary and a Life mem­ber of the Par­ent Branch, West­side Le­gion 126. She was an ac­tive com­mu­nity mem­ber who re­cently re­ceived the Queen’s Ju­bilee Medal for her ef­forts.

Zelda is sur­vived by her daugh­ter, Lucina; son, Ge­orge ( Co­ralie); son- in- law, Everett Dick­son; sis­ter, Joan Mosher; grand­chil­dren, Linda Clarke ( Derek Richards), Chris­tine Cole­man (Brian Reid), Paul and Paula Clarke, Justin Dick­son, Brooke and Cameron McPhail; great- grand­chil­dren, Tyler, Paige, Au­gust and Dray­dan and many spe­cial nieces and neph­ews.

She was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Wour­tle; daugh­ters, Les­lie Cole­man and Ly­dia Dick­son; her part­ner of many years, John Nash; sis­ters, Pearl Thomp­son and Ella Royal; brothers, Charles, Fred, Ge­orge, Mal­colm, Clarence and Gor­don and grand­sons, Wil­lie and Don­nie Cole­man.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be held Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 22, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Syd­ney Me­mo­rial Chapel. Funeral Mass will take place Thurs­day at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, West­mount, with Rev. Doug Mur­phy of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will take place at a later date.

Me­mo­ri­als may be made to the Cape Breton Vet­er­ans Com­fort Fund.

The fam­ily would like to thank Cape Breton County Homemak­ers, the VON and neigh­bour and friend, Pat Fraser, for their lov­ing care and con­cern for Mom.
