It is with deep sad­ness we an­nounce the peace­ful pass­ing of Ken­neth ‘Kenny’ McIsaac, age 78, lov­ing hus­band, fa­ther, grand­fa­ther, great-grand­fa­ther, brother, un­cle and friend on Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 19, 2017 at the North­side Com­mu­nity Guest Home, where he resided.

Born in Syd­ney on June 22, 1938, Kenny was the son of the late Wil­liam J. and Mar­garet O. (Snow) McIsaac. Kenny at­tended Xavier Ju­nior Col­lege in Syd­ney and was a grad­u­ate of Nor­mal Col­lege in Truro and St. F.X. Univer­sity in Antigonish. Through­out his teach­ing ca­reer he taught el­e­men­tary, ju­nior high and high school and later as a Guid­ance Coun­selor with the North­side Vic­to­ria School Board and un­til his re­tire­ment, as a Psy­chome­trist in Spe­cial Ed­u­ca­tion. Kenny was a faith­ful mem­ber of St. Joseph Church in North Syd­ney where he served as Lec­tor for many years. He was a mem­ber of the Fa­ther Wil­liam B. Kiely Coun­cil of the Knights of Colum­bus in North Syd­ney. For many years Kenny was in­volved in the Big Broth­ers pro­gram on the North­side.

Kenny was in­volved in sports be­fore and while he was teach­ing on the North­side and was a val­ued mem­ber of the North­side Mi­nor Hockey As­so­ci­a­tion. Kenny used his ex­pe­ri­ence as a Guid­ance Coun­selor in his coach­ing of hockey teams over the years where he was very suc­cess­ful in win­ning many cham­pi­onships. The Ju­nior Golf Pro­gram was an­other one of Kenny’s pet projects. As a well-known mem­ber of Seav­iew Golf and Coun­try Club, Kenny was suc­cess­ful as a coach and a highly skilled player.

Kenny is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife, Roberta (Bel­more) McIsaac, North Syd­ney; his daugh­ter, Laura (Carl) Jes­some, Syd­ney; his son, Neil (Kelly) McIsaac, Bed­ford; his five grand­chil­dren, Tyler (Danielle), Vic­to­ria and Kristen Jes­some, Grif­fin and Ruby Ann McIsaac and also his great-grand­daugh­ter, Leighton Jes­some. Also sur­viv­ing is his brother, Alan (Carol) McIsaac, Lan­g­ley, BC and sis­ter, Mary El­iz­a­beth McIsaac, Hamil­ton; his four nieces, Laura Les­lie, Katie Kennedy, Anne Man­ner, Lynn Man­ner and grand­niece, Alexan­dra Man­ner.

Be­sides his par­ents, Kenny was pre­de­ceased by his brother, Ed­ward McIsaac and his sis­ter, Anne Les­lie.

The fam­ily would like to thank Dr. John Kirk­patrick and staff at the North­side Com­mu­nity Guest Home who went above and be­yond with Kenny’s care.

Vis­i­ta­tion for Kenny will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 22, 2017, in the W.J. Doo­ley Fu­neral Home, 107 Pleas­ant Street, North Syd­ney. A Fu­neral Mass will be cel­e­brated at 10 a.m. on Thurs­day at St. Joseph Church, North Syd­ney with Rev. Pa­trick O’Neill of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial in Holy Cross Ceme­tery, North Syd­ney at a later date.
