Sydney robbery accused to have bail hearing

SYDNEY — A Sydney man charged in connection with a weekend robbery is scheduled to return to provincial court today for a bail hearing.

Tre Damian Timmons, 20, of Union Street, is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (a large kitchen knife), uttering a threat, wearing a disguise in committing an offence, assault with a weapon and robbery.

The charges were filed in connection with a holdup Saturday at Sobey’s Fast Fuels on the corner of Prince and Inglis Streets in Sydney. According to Cape Breton Regional Police, a lone man entered the store at around 6:45 a.m. Saturday and fled with the cash register which was discovered a short distance from the store along with a knife.
