It is with heavy hearts that the Porter fam­ily sadly an­nounces the pass­ing of their beloved Joe, on Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 21, 2017.

At the age of 83, Joe peace­fully passed at the Greater Ni­a­gara Gen­eral Hospi­tal with his fam­ily by his side.

Joe was a lov­ing hus­band to Loretta (nee Veale) for 58 years and a de­voted fa­ther to San­dra (Jamie) Burns and Shawn (Rox­anne) Porter; cher­ished Papa of El­iz­a­beth O’Neill (nee Burns) and Ben­jamin Burns, Adam, Al­li­son, Em­i­lie and Eric Porter and great-grand­fa­ther of Elle; dear brother of Neil (Win­nie) and Michael (Peggy) Porter of Port Col­borne, Car­lotta Cordy and Charles (Sylvia) Porter of Florence, Nova Sco­tia.

He was pre­de­ceased by his par­ents. Theodore and Rose Porter; brothers, Theodore, Colin and John, and sis­ters, Ros­alie, Re­becca, Sarah and Clare.

Joe was a veteran of the Korean War and was em­ployed at John Deere Wel­land Works, re­tir­ing af­ter 32 years of ser­vice. The high­lights of Joe’s life were the pre­cious mo­ments he shared with his grand­chil­dren.

The fam­ily wishes to ex­tend their grat­i­tude to the care givers of Para Med, March of Dimes, Dr. J. Child and Dr. G. Zi­makas.

Rel­a­tives & friends may call at J.J. Pat­ter­son & Sons Funeral Res­i­dence, 19 Young Street, Wel­land on Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 24th, 2017 af­ter 11 a.m.

A Funeral Mass will fol­low at the Parish Com­mu­nity of St. Kevin at 1 p.m., with in­ter­ment to fol­low at a later date.

Me­mo­rial dona­tions in Joe’s mem­ory may be made to Hos­pice Ni­a­gara, the Royal Cana­dian Le­gion- Poppy Fund or char­ity of one’s choice.
