Two ac­cused face mul­ti­ple drug of­fences

SYD­NEY — One of two peo­ple charged this week with drug of­fences has been re­leased from cus­tody while the sec­ond is to have a bail hear­ing Mon­day. Matthew Isa­iah De­gaust, 19, of Hol­land Street, Re­serve Mines, and Kate­lyn Tay­lor McIn­nis, 19, of Birkley Street, Glace Bay, are both charged with six counts of pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing in­volv­ing mar­i­juana, co­caine, oxy­codone, psilo­cy­bin (magic mush­rooms) and Ri­talin. They are also charged with two counts of pos­ses­sion in­volv­ing hy­dro­mor­phone and dexedrin.

De­gaust is also charged with car­ry­ing a weapon dan­ger­ous to public peace (pep­per stray) and pos­ses­sion of a weapon with no li­cence. All of the of­fences are al­leged to have oc­curred Thurs­day in Re­serve Mines.

McIn­nis has been re­leased on con­di­tions and is to re­turn to court March 23 to en­ter pleas. De­gaust is on re­mand and is sched­uled to have a bail hear­ing Mon­day.
