Two accused face multiple drug offences
SYDNEY — One of two people charged this week with drug offences has been released from custody while the second is to have a bail hearing Monday. Matthew Isaiah Degaust, 19, of Holland Street, Reserve Mines, and Katelyn Taylor McInnis, 19, of Birkley Street, Glace Bay, are both charged with six counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking involving marijuana, cocaine, oxycodone, psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and Ritalin. They are also charged with two counts of possession involving hydromorphone and dexedrin.
Degaust is also charged with carrying a weapon dangerous to public peace (pepper stray) and possession of a weapon with no licence. All of the offences are alleged to have occurred Thursday in Reserve Mines.
McInnis has been released on conditions and is to return to court March 23 to enter pleas. Degaust is on remand and is scheduled to have a bail hearing Monday.
