Capers men, women lose to visiting Huskies
The Cape Breton University Capers basketball teams dropped a pair of games to the Saint Mary’s Huskies in Atlantic University Sport action at Sullivan Fieldhouse on Friday.
In men’s action, the Capers (0-19) were defeated 94-78 by the Huskies (12-7).
Marquis Clayton powered the offense for Saint Mary’s with 17 points in the win. Kemar Alleyne and Theon Reefer chipped in with 15 points each.
Kyle Hankins had a gamehigh 18 points in the loss for Cape Breton. Christian Affolter and Blake Gallantly added 15 points each.
In women’s action, Cape Breton University (12-7) dropped a close 65-63 game to the first place Saint Mary’s University (15-4).
Shanieka Wood led the offense for the Huskies with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Kennisha-Shanice Luberisse netted 10 points, while Angelina Carvery, Jenny Lewis, Jasmine Cain and Courtney Cain-Nordin each chipped in with nine points.
Sandra Amoah had 13 points in the loss for the Capers. Alison Keough scored 12 points, and Hannah Brown added 11 points.
The Capers and Huskies will meet again today at Sullivan Fieldhouse for the teams’ final regular season games. The women hit the court at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.
