Northside emergency room will remain open
I am writing to dispel misinformation that’s being circulated by the Progressive Conservatives on social media regarding the future of the emergency room at the Northside General Hospital.
This misinformation has been referenced on the Facebook page of the MLA for Northside-Westmount.
Health and Wellness Minister Leo Glavine has confirmed that the Emergency Department at the Northside General Hospital will not be closing. He has toured this hospital and understands how important it is for the Northside community and surrounding areas.
Spreading rumours and creating panic about health care in Cape Breton shows that the Conservatives don’t have the best interests of Nova Scotians in mind. Fear mongering for political gain is irresponsible, and the people of Northside-Westmount deserve better from their elected representatives.
Today’s health care issues are a result of the inheritance of years of inaction by Conservative and NDP governments. Your Liberal government continues to make health care a priority in this province, and is working with the Nova Scotia Health Authority to ensure important ER shifts in Cape Breton are filled.
The government is also continuing to consult with doctors to ensure their concerns are heard and addressed. John Higgins Sydney Mines Liberal candidate for Northside-Westmount
