With great sad­ness we, the fam­ily of Nel­son Craig Mun­roe, re­gret to an­nounce his pass­ing on Satur­day, April 29, 2017 at the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hos­pi­tal, Syd­ney, sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily af­ter a brief ill­ness.

Born Au­gust 25, 1969 in Syd­ney, he was the son of Mary ‘Margie’ (Ma­cLeod) Mun­roe, Mar­ion Bridge and the late Hughie Mun­roe.

Craig was em­ployed in the forestry in­dus­try, as well as a fish­er­man. For 25 years, he was a mem­ber of the Mar­ion Bridge Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment for which he re­ceived com­men­da­tion from the Gov­er­nor Gen­eral. He en­joyed play­ing soft­ball and hockey and will be best re­mem­bered for his strong head, but big heart.

Be­sides his mother, Craig is sur­vived by his son, Cur­tis, Syd­ney; brother, Den­nis (Sh­eryl Hunter), Hal­i­fax, as well as many very close ex­tended fam­ily mem­bers.

Vis­i­ta­tion will take place at Syd­ney Memo­rial Chapel on Wed­nes­day, May 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A pri­vate fam­ily grave­side ser­vice will be held at Oakfield Ceme­tery, with Nancy Whit­ney-Latham, DLM of­fi­ci­at­ing. A cel­e­bra­tion of life will take place from 2-4 p.m. on Thurs­day, May 4 at the Mar­ion Bridge Re­cre­ation Cen­tre.
