FLAG RE­LAY TO STOP IN SYDNEY

The Canada Games flag will ar­rive in Sydney on Fri­day as part of the 50th an­niver­sary of the multi-sport event. The flag re­lay, a Canada 150 sig­na­ture project, is mak­ing stops in host com­mu­ni­ties across the coun­try. Cape Bre­ton hosted the Canada Win­ter Games in 1987. A flag rais­ing will be held at noon at the civic cen­tre in Sydney, with a re­cep­tion to fol­low. Satur­day and Sun­day, there will be a trav­el­ling ex­hibit fea­tur­ing his­tory and mem­o­ra­bilia from the 50 years of the Games on dis­play at the Mayflower Mall. The flag will ar­rive for the open­ing cer­e­mony at the 2017 Canada Sum­mer Games in Win­nipeg, July 28.
